Concealed Cavity
Timber, plaster board, paint etc.
12ft x 26ft 10ins x 9ins
Measure the gallery and calculate the total volume of the exhibition space. Divide the calculated size by the number of artists participating in the show to determine a volume dimension for my fair share of the space. Next, separate my space from the gallery using stud partition, or an alternative appropriate building process, in order to reduce the size of the gallery by the given proportion. The building work should be compatible with the existing walls and floors, thus maintaining the integrity of the architecture and rendering the sealed cavity invisible to the eye.

Installation view: "Open", Arcadia University Art Gallery, Philadelphia. Housing over fifty works from the 1960s to the present in what appears to be a vacant exhibition space, "Open" considers the elasticity of emptiness, the thresholds of perception, and the physical and cultural parameters of the white cube.
